Hello on this somber occasion.

The Rutland School District would like to invite you and your colleagues to our school on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 8:30 am. We are planning to have a flag raising ceremony in remembrance of the inexcusable event that changed our country on September 11, 2001. Additionally, our ceremony is to remember those brave men and women who have paid the ultimate price in service of our country, and our communities as the result of 9/11.

It is the school’s hope that members of our Fire Departments, Peace Officers, Veterans, Armed Forces Members and Citizens of our Great Country can join us as we raise our United States Flag to half mast and fly it on Friday, September 10 in remembrance.

The ceremony will be 15 -25 minutes and will commence at approximately 8:45 am. There will be a short reading to recap the events of what happened on September 11, 2001, a ringing of the school bell in honor of the fallen as the flag is raised to half mast and a 2 minute Moment of Silence for those who fell that day and in the 20 years of war that followed. After the Moment of Silence the students will start the day with an United States and State of South Dakota Pledge of Allegiance. We would greatly appreciate it if you would join us.

If you have any questions please feel to contact myself and I will be happy to assist you. We are asking that parking in the front of the school be reserved for Fire Departments and Peace Officers to park their official vehicles.

Thank you all so much for all that you have done for our country, community and school, we appreciate it everyday.

Sincerely, Mr. Richard Myrvik
