Hello, here is a note from ORR’s principal, Mr. Johnson. Thank you!!! Hello Rutland 6-12 Students, Parents, and Guardians, I have received a few questions regarding class registration in Rutland for next year. Mr. Brosnahan and I finished a class schedule draft for next year and sent it to staff to double check. Once the class schedule is finalized, students will register with Mr. Brosnahan as they have done in the past. This will likely start the middle of next week. Students in grades 8-12 will bring home a sheet for parents to look at check over. This sheet will also ask for a parent signature. Our school counselor also has students fill out their personal learning plans as a secondary check to make sure the right classes are being taken. Please have the class registration sheets (students in grades 8-12) back to Mr. Brosnahan by May 16. Due to the timing and my learning curve of how Rutland does things, we will not be hosting a registration meeting. A meeting will be held next March or April for the new school year. If you have any questions, please email Mr. Brosnahan or myself at andrew.r.johnson@k12.sd.us. Thank you for patience and understanding. I look forward to working with everybody. Have a great weekend!

State Testing for Rutland will begin next week. We are planning to spread the testing out over a number of days/weeks in hopes to not overload students with "testing." We would appreciate it if you could maybe speak to your child(ren) about the importance of state testing, and do your best to frame it in a positive light...Encouraging them to do their very best! The district does use state testing for different placement opportunities (for classes) as well as the data provided to help individualize instruction for students as they progress to the next grade...Additionally, students in 11th grade receive general acceptance to all state universities and technical institutions if they score proficient (3 or a 4) in both math and ELA. Let's continue to finish the year strong and have everyone do their very best! Thank you for your efforts and support with this!

Good afternoon, After driving the roads a bit this morning, we will resume normal bus routes on Wednesday, April 12th, starting in the morning. I think the remainder of today and the nice day that is forecasted for tomorrow (with some heavier winds to dry it up even more) should put us in a good position to start up the normal routes again. I truly appreciate everyone’s flexibility over the past few weeks with the current situation/adjustment! Have a great rest of your Monday!!

Due to the current weather, melting, freezing, etc., the buses are not only destroying the local gravel roads but the roads are also quite hard on our buses. Please connect with your bus driver (or Janet in the main office) for pickup/dropoff locations. We're very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
