SUMMER READING INCENTIVE!!!!
The Rutland School wants to encourage all students to READ, READ, READ this summer!! We will again be doing an elementary back to school incentive for students who set (and meet) some summer reading goals. The AR goals and expectations are - Goals: Students Entering grades 1-2 (20 points), Students Entering grades 3-5 (12 points)
** Students MUST read books at their level to qualify! (Last year’s Kindergarten students may be read to). Since 3rd-5th graders read chapter books (which take longer), their points are lower.
If you need to know if a book is an AR book or not, you can look on this site. https://www.arbookfind.com/
Test Taking Site: https://global-zone51.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/314950
***Additionally, we encourage you to visit your local library for additional reading programs and to access books. Or, if you'd like, Ms. Krogman has offered to open her personal classroom library to check out books throughout the summer. She plans to be at school on Tuesdays from 10-12 and Thursdays from 3-5. I would encourage you to email her, Casey.krogman@k12.sd.us, to let her know that you might be coming by.
If you are having any troubles with AR, please contact Mrs. Merager. jill.Merager@k12.sd.us
Thank you and HAPPY READING!

The Rutland School will be closed tomorrow due to the extensive storm damage from earlier this evening. The Rutland 8th graders had an opportunity to learn more about business and entrepreneurship yesterday at DSU where Junior Achievement hosted an event! over 80 8th grade students from Rutland, Chester, Oldham-Ramona, and Colman-Egan were in attendance. The day was spent learning, problem solving, and examining how businesses start and it really was a great experience for the kids. At the end of the day, groups had to do a "Shark Tank" type "pitch" regarding a new product/business...Students from Rutland (and one from Oldham-Ramona) got second place! It was a good day!

Good morning. As a reminder, we will be having a Rutland and Oldham-Ramona community meeting tomorrow night at the Prairie Playhouse in Madison. The meeting will start at 6:00PM. We hope that you're able to make it!
A Zoom option will be available as well. https://sdk12.zoom.us/j/94719339990
